Mike Venezia
On December 7, 1964. Mike Venezia, one of my favorite jockeys, had a day that no jockey before or since ever had at a major track. Aqueduct. In a nine-race day he rode six winners and three place. The papers were citing Gazillion dollar place parlays had anyone the foresight.
I wasn’t there that day. But I was the next. As Venezia brought his first ride onto the track, he was given a long, heartfelt standing ovation. I loved those days at the track.
